Is it okay to give my cat a second Frontline flea treatment in a 2wk span?
It’s been two weeks since his first treatment and he still has fleas. I wanted to give him another flea treatment of Frontline but I didn’t know if that was too soon, but he still has fleas bad. Is it ok?
No it is not yet safe for your cat to have another treatment now it’s a little bit too soon. Wait another 2 weeks. Are you also treating the house with flea spray such as "acclaim"? If not you need to buy this spray and use it on your pets bedding and use it to treat your carpets. Fleas and their eggs linger around in carpets and furniture and then re-hatch and re-infest your cat. The only way to get rid of these fleas for good is to treat both your home and your cats for fleas.
Which cat flea prevention is best plese?
Recently got cat from rescue centre & is due flea treatment soon. Want advice from other cat owners – drops from pet shop/vet? Thanks, also any particularly good wormer tablets too.
Hi
DO NOT BOTHER USING FLEA TREATMENTS FROM THE SHOPS! – yes they may be cheaper, but trust me they do not work!
Here’s what to do:
- Use a treatment from the vets e.g. Stronghold, Frontline (Combo), or Promeris. Ideally Promeris as fleas are becoming more resistant to frontline. These cost around £20 or more or less.
-Worm your cat with milbemax.
-Spray your house with a flea house spray recommended by the vets (e.g. Indorex) and hoover regularly to encourage fleas to hatch (and then die!)
-If you really want, get your cat to be injected with some Program.
Hope this helps!
How do you get rid of fleas in your home and on your cat?
I suspect my kitten has fleas. Not sure when he got the fleas – possibly from his old owner, possibly from the veterinarian’s office. Either way, we’re going to buy him Advantage tomorrow, but we’re still faced with the problem of fleas in the house.
I know about vacuuming thoroughly and washing everything that’s not tied down in hot water, but does anyone have a suggestion about a flea bomb or spray that we can use on the furniture and draperies?
If you have any useful tips, I’d appreciate those, too. Thank you.
Fleas hate essential oil, especially Tee Tree. they hate it really much. when my brother had lice we put a few drops on his head and they left really fast. http://www.alnaturalcosmetics.com/servlet/the-122/AL-1-fdsh-6-oz-Essential/Detail is a good place to get some. just put a few drops in a few places in every room. ignore the smell its worth it trust me! by the way if you have any bug problems.. essential oils get rid of them all, they mostly hate tee tree. and lice and fleas are the ones that hate it the most.
