How long can I expect for my dog to recover from a reaction to a flea treatment.?
My small dog, 6lbs, had a reaction to a store brand flea treatment. He had to spend a night at the vet for observation. Now 5 days since the flea application, he is still acting some what lethargic. He’s eating and drinking but that’s about all he does. It is so sad to see once a very playful dog just sleep all day.
I’m so sorry about what happened to your dog. It may take a little while before you see him back to his normal self. But if you don’t see any improvement by the next week, I would have him checked again. I’m not a fan of the chemical flea and tick products. My dog has suffered side effects as well. It’s especially risky when dealing with such a tiny dog. I like to search for herbal remedies for most things I can help prevent. I found a little article I bookmarked that lists a few natural alternatives to preventing fleas and ticks. http://www.gomestic.com/Pets/Natural-Flea-and-Tick-Repellent-for-Dogs.694111 I’ve been following this since last summer and it’s been working great. Even if it isn’t 100% effective, the general health of my dog has improved. Maybe you try using these things in the future. I hope your dog gets better very soon.
Is dog Flea and tick medicine, the kind that gets rid of fleas, ticks, lice and others safe for humans to use?
I dont have fleas or any kind of parasites but was curious. If dogs can have the medicine applied once a month can humans use the same stuff too?
First off it is not necessary because Humans don’t need monthly protection. Secondly, the medicine used on dogs is not even close to safe for human use. It is almost guaranteed to cause an allergic reaction. If you were to accidentally ingest even a small amount of this you would be ill.

How to get rid of fleas on my puppy?
My 4 month old puggle has fleas, I treated her with a flea treatment today. Is there anything else I can do,and how long should it take for the treatment to kill her fleas? She is having trouble eating, and I am really worried.
First, take this pup to the vet immediately. Puppies are born anemic/hypoglycemic and fleas just add to the problem. When you take her to the vet, have her professionally dipped and get some good product on her for fleas/ticks/mosquitos. While she’s there, treat your house and your yard for fleas, because they’ll be in your carpet and on your grass outside. Take any other pets you have to be dipped as well.
