bio-spot flea/tick control?

Has anyone used Bio-Spot flea/tick control?

I asked my husband to pick up flea/tick drops for the puppy, and even though he knows i use strictly Frontline, he came home with this (if you want something done right…..). i used it 6 weeks ago for the first time (with reservations) and she was fine.

flea/tick controlLast night i applied it again and she became VERY lethargic. tried to hide behind the couches. shaking while i held her. i rinsed her off and took her outside and within a few minutes she was back to normal. but why would it affect her like this? she’s bigger and i waited 6 weeks instead of 4. on the box it says for puppies, toys and minnies under 15 lbs. she’s a 7 mth old pup probably 12 lbs.
thank you olddoc- i knew HARTZ could be fatal. but i’ve never even heard of the others you listed. i’m going to check them out.
thanx becky- i wondered if it was the citrus odor too.
and i’ve always used frontline, but the rest are all big dogs.

Flea/tick Control Stories

There are just as many horror stories around about Biospot as there are Hartz:
Lethargy is one of the symptoms being reported.

Biospot is one of those cruddy ones you can get at pet stores. These kinds of products contain permethrin, or other organophosphates, because they’re not allowed to contain anything else or the Bed Bug, Lice, Tick & Flea Residual Spraystores wouldn’t be allowed to sell them. Organosphosphates are not appropriate for application to animals!!

Best flea/tick control

Great for Lice, Ticks, Roaches & Fleas also.  This Residual Bed Bug Spray keeps listed insects including bed bugs, fleas & roaches away after you’ve sprayed for up to 60 days and is ready to use! EPA approved & effective for most Crawling Insects found in your home or business.  Great to use around baseboards, drawers, bed mattresses & frames, drapes or any harborages bed bugs, fleas, roaches or crawling insects hide.

I gave my cat flea drops and now he has leg spasms? Any connection there?

I decided to try some flea/tick drops to prevent infestation and dripped it on the back of my cat’s neck as directed. The next morning I noticed the area turned pink with a small red spot. Now, when he gets up from a sitting position his hind legs seem to spasm, either that or he just shakes them. This never happened before the drops. Is there any connection to the drops and nerve/muscle damage? Is this serious?

Hi Kent…this isn’t uncommon especially with over the counter spot-on flea infestation topicals such as Hartz, Sentry and similar products which are not prescribed by a veterinarian. The products contain "pyrethrin’s" which have been considered lethal in pet animals. Side effects have been paralyzation, seisures to even death.
